What We Believe

CORE VALUES
Our vision rests on the foundation of seven basic core values that define the kind of church we believe God wants us to be. They are central to our identity and purpose. As a church, we are committed to being:

Christ-centred
We believe that God's greatest revelation of himself is found in Jesus Christ. We celebrate this revelation and in our worship declare, "Jesus is Lord". We read the Scriptures with Christ as our central focus. We are committed to obeying the teachings of Christ and imitating his example in our daily lives. We will seek to live the peace and reconciliation that Christ came to bring. Because of Jesus we need not be afraid to admit our flaws and fears, not pressured to pretend we're someone we're not. We believe that through Christ, God accepts people right where they are and lovingly moves them toward where He desires to be.

Unapologetically Biblical
We believe the Bible is true; that it is authoritative and applicable to every part of our lives. As evangelical Anabaptists we are progressive in our methods and conservative in theology. The Holy Bible is our guide as we study, teach, and follow Scripture as our sole authority for daily living.

Radical Disciplers
We believe that being a disciple of Jesus is a radical change of how we think, speak and act. We believe God never intended church to be a spectator sport, but that He gives vital spiritual gifts to every believer. We believe their discovery, development, and exercise are the primary instrument of Christ to minister to others. We are committed to empowering people to serve each other according to their spiritual gifts, strengthening each other as we strive for maturity. We are committed to a life of prayer, Bible reading, stewardship and fellowship.

Lovingly Relational
We desire unity because more can be accomplished together than apart. The Holy Spirit makes us one, breathing unity into diversity, breaking down the walls that divide. We believe that spiritual growth happens best in caring relationships, where people actively participate in a small community of believers that encourages, challenges, prays, serves, and learns together. We believe that the small (cell) group is one of the most effective contexts for accountability, discipleship, leadership training, and outreach. We are committed to developing an expanding network of cell groups. When joined together, these cells form a church that is a purposeful, loving community.

Culturally Relevant
We believe in the unchanging character of God while recognizing His desire to use various means possible to bring people back into relationship with Him. Our style is contemporary. We're not interested in passing fads or gimmicks, we simply want to use the clearest, most effective means possible to communicate God's message. We are committed to presenting the truths of Christianity in a creative and relevant manner without compromising the gospel in any way.

Outreach Oriented
We believe the answers for all of life and eternity are found in a restored personal relationship with God through faith in Christ. We believe the church is the primary means for outreach by empowering people to express their faith confidently and naturally. We are committed to spreading His love and message to those who don't yet know it by cultivating loving relationships with them. We pray for our outreach - both personally and corporately - to our family, friends, community, and world.

Grace Focused
We believe the central, driving force of the universe and in our lives is the undeserved grace and love of God. We believe His grace alone-not our effort or accomplishments - is responsible for producing eternal life, freedom from sin and its control, and lasting change in an individual's character. This grace is evident in our lives through the gift of the Holy Spirit, who comforts, counsels, and pleads for us before the Father. We respond to such grace with deliberate worship and joyful celebration.
