B. This is the house church “Roca Eterna” of Pastor Gerardo and Odalys Massanet. In the past, pastor Massanet was imprisoned 7 times because he converted from being a communist veterinary instructor at the University, to becoming a very persistent preacher of the gospel. As a consequence both he and his wife – also a veterinarian - lost their jobs at the University . They now make their living by selling fruits out of their garden.

They have their own house church with an attendance of 60-80 people. In addition they oversee 18 other conference church groups.

One of the major challenges for all the house churches is the toilet situation. The houses are mostly small and simple. The toilets fulfill only minimally the function of flushing. Pastor Massanet’s house is neat and tidy but the toilet that they have functions precariously. It is barely enough for his own family. On Sunday, when 60-80 people congregate, it is the only toilet available. We can only imagine (or better not) what that looks like after a short while. Their services last for hours and people hang around afterwards.

This situation weighted heavily on their shoulders when we visited them. Here is the need:

• build 2 complete toilets a little distance from their house and bring water and electricity to them.
